# Business111.com

> Free, curated and trustworthy 24/7 business guidance for UK small businesses, the self-employed and freelancers. Ask any business question in plain English and get a grounded, plain-English answer built **only** from checked, trusted UK sources — with every source shown. Founded by Liz Barclay, former UK Small Business Commissioner.

Business111.com is three things that work as one system:

1. **Search — the Business111 Navigator.** A retrieval-augmented answer engine for UK business questions (VAT, hiring, licences, funding, compliance). It never answers from model memory: it retrieves from our own reviewed corpus first, then answers **only** from those documents and cites them. Geo-aware down to postcode level, so national rules are blended with guidance for the searcher's actual area.
2. **Curated content.** Every UK business resource on the site is hand-selected, categorised, trust-scored and geo-tagged before it is published — filed under the questions business owners actually ask ("What rules do I need to follow?", "How do I stay on top of money?"), not under the department that published them. Curation, not volume, is the point.
3. **News for UK small businesses, published daily.** What is actually happening to small UK firms — tax and Budget changes, employment law, funding, cashflow, the high street — alongside a regularly published podcast, all indexed into the same search, so each day's coverage becomes an answerable source the moment it goes live.
