Your thoughts? The government have announced that they are minded to move the election from May 2026 to May 2028. This election is being held because Norfolk County Council and Suffolk County Council applied to be part of the Government's Priority Programme for Devolution. This involves the creation of a new Combined County Authority covering both areas. The Combined County Authority will be led by the elected Mayor. The new authority will not replace local councils. Instead, it will act as a strategic authority, sitting between local councils and national government. Its purpose will be to handle key areas at a strategic level.
